The first quarter Moon is the growth phase. Roots venture deeper, the stem shoots up to create a new strong body, and leaves unfurl and reach out. All of August is about making things visible, giving voice, creating form. Our focus at this time gives rise to long legacy.

There’s a lot of action as development quickens and it will be important to attend to grounding and alignment with core truth and values. The potential for progress is high (with Mars in Sag as of Aug2) though we may encounter some seeming or actual delays (Saturn shifting to direct). Discernment, discipline and patience will be key.

Earthy energy (4 planets in earth signs, 3 in Virgo) supports us in grounding the pull to action (4 planets in fire signs). Scorpio Moon draws us to hidden knowledge and we are more able to unearth wisdom within (big support from Virgo energy + Neptune mysticism/creativity and Pluto insights). Feel in, feel through, let felt-sense guide (esp since mind can get blurry w/ no planets in Air signs + other Neptune opp Merc & Venus) . As always when manifesting in form, there may be hard-edges and hard-spaces, so be sure to give heart lots of room to unfold (Venus-Saturn square all week). Cultivate beauty and nurture self-care.

PS. Perseid Showers peak night-morning Aug11-12. The meteors tend to strengthen in number as late night deepens into midnight, and typically produce the most meteors in the wee hours before dawn. The showers have been going on since July and will still go on for awhile but this is when they’ll be at their peak. And this year expecting an outburst of Light coming to us; up to 200 an hour! Woo Hoo! Enjoy!

Moon new in Leo

 Welcome Moon Dark-New

Presence, perception, possibility

Here we are at the beginning of August and at the start of a new cycle. We are still called to focus on and realign our priorities; and really clear away what was, for what we want to bring into Being (ongoing Saturn-Neptune square). There’s a lot of fiery, masculine energy about right now (6 planets in fire signs) so we have lots of support for our will, determination and action in that regard.

The energy is a bit ‘hot and heated’ – a lot could be said about this, but need I say more? ;) – AND and there’s a lot of energy flowing (Fire abundance+ Grand Sextile Jul28 -Aug14 ) that we can draw upon to refine alignments and fine-tune our inner and outer works. There’s much ‘food’ for head, heart and Spirit; abundant invitations to take roads both high and deep; powerful energies for protection and manifestation (Grand Sextile); and soothing nourishment along the way (another Grand Water trine).

The energetic field is shifting in positive ways (esp with Mars moving from Scorpio to Sag this morning). It may still be intense but we can expect to experience more stability (Saturn trine Moon today), less pressure and more inner calm. We will also likely find ourselves responding very easily to our hearts pulling us to relax, be playful and more care-free. Yippee!

New Moon invites us into fresh experiences as if we were newly born. Leo wants us to experience our power, presence, courage, and radiant heart-truth. We are called to re-interpret, re-activate, and re-energize truth, purpose, and meaning, inside and out. Leo rules the heart and gifts us inspiration, creativity, and Love. We get to both play and decide what the ‘play’ is/will be about. Given some recent shifts, expect the play to reflect freedom, optimism, and the ideal (Mars > Sag)

Tune into the calm

Half-lit waning Moon in Taurus

Welcome waning half-lit Moon

strength, faith, love & integration

Although Moon is waning, there’s a lot of momentum and  movement energy  being activated right now (Fire trine; 5 planets in fire signs). Yes, indeed, we’re ‘fired’ up!

Still, there may be some stalls and static popping up as well. Are you experiencing this? (Yeah, it may feel a bit like Mercury retrograde but that’s not it; there’s other bubblings that are in play). At some level it’s a bit of a dance between the “Let’s go!” energy of fire, and the “Let’s slow down and ground” energy of a waning Earth Moon. Be warmed and energized by the fire, and build strong Earth bowls to ground, contain and hold the energy. And, if in the midst of momentum you experience some stalls and glitches, take them as signals to slow down, silence distractions, and tune in.

Take time to pause in the space between light and dark in equal measure. The last quarter Moon invites us to begin to integrate all that we have learned, experienced, thought, felt, and enacted. Taurus calls us to draw on the wisdom of our senses to recognize and further imbue ourselves with clarity, strength, stability, abundance and love.

We are supported in all this by subtle illuminations and some magical synchronicity (Mercury trine Uranus tomorrow). Further, old and out-dated beliefs and practices that have been released over the last several cycles are continuing to unwind and fade away. The settling down of all the stirring up now allows a natural alchemy to occur within (Uranus moves retrograde Friday). Self-care, health and healing comes more into focus as we find more ease in filtering out distractions and the unnecessary (Mercury moves into Virgo Saturday)

Look into the light and into the dark for all that has been initiated and planned this cycle. Honor what is complete; and re-sort and re-view what is still in play or to come. Breathe in the abundance of love energy that is being expressed through this last light of the Moon (and last week of July) and be inspired by Earth, Air, Fire Water and Spirit and all the ways Love and Light is expressed in life and you!

In the space between dark and light

and open to rainbows of insight.

In the light and the dark and in between
reflect on all you’ve seen and all you’ve been

Honor all the jewels of you that are lit by Fire
and all those still nestled in Earth and
invite heart-Spirit to refine your enchantments
in the deepening dark as you dream into new birth.

Capricorn Moon calls us to step onto our solid ground. It is time to profoundly Earth our truth, practices, ideas, ideals and intentions. Capricorn invites us to into our highest aspirations with strength, courage, confidence, clarity and resolve.

We are supported in all that matters – values, thoughts, feelings, responsibility and discipline (Merc conjunct Venus Trine Saturn). Our capacity for listening and responding to inner wisdom is strengthened, as is our intuition and awareness of what is occurring within, and out in the world (Cardinal T-square: Sun Moon, Uranus). And we continue to be called to weave and deepen the connection of Earth & Spirit (ongoing Saturn-Neptune square).

Like Seagoat, meld passion, spirit, intuition and soul connection, those deepest parts of our Being, with intelligence, steadiness, ambition and the ability to thrive even in inhospitable environments. Honor what has been maturing since Cancer new Moon. Embrace what is transforming and the new story coming into form. Draw on the light and warmth that is present building (both Venus and Mercury now in Leo to be joined by Sun on Friday)

… Earth and Water; Mountain and Stream; Strength and flow. Through whatever challenges we may face, individually or collectively, I recommend melding the powers of earth and water; strength and flow; practical matters and emotional ones. Inside and outside.  Weave together Spirit and form  in your ideals, practices, and intentions; in mind, heart and body.  This Moon, and various sky configurations, encourage and support such weaving.

This morning a sweet film came to my screen that for me speaks to much of this. About wonder and challenge and playfulness. About what is important; about hard things and soft things; about being caught and being free. It’s a beautiful short (4′) piece and I highly recommend the viewing.
