Moon dark-new once again heralds a time for re-emergence, new beginnings and new growth. At this Moon, the call to try new things and to see in new ways is heightened (Moon-Saturn-Uranus TSQ). Big-hearted Leo invites us to put ourselves at the centre; to Be and to serve just by being our most radiant, fearless, authentic selves. It’s time to step into our own unique ways of Being.

Powerful Leonine energy (Sun, Moon, Merc in Leo) fills us with radiance, warmth, strength, courage, boldness and confidence; and creative energy is very high (Fire/Leo energies+ Sirius/LionsGate portal of creativity). Firey energy lifts our spirits and inspires action (4 planets in Fire signs); Earthy energy helps us ground and anchor our intentions (4 planets in Earth signs). Feminine and masculine energies are fairly balanced (5 planets in fem signs; 6 in masc) enabling us to tend to our hearts while exercising the will and determination to move forward.

While it is time for new beginnings, it’s not yet time to rush to action (5 planets retrograde and Uranus upcoming + 6 planets in fixed signs). However, it is a powerful time for clearing old, distorted stories; receiving energetic upgrades; and for unifying physical and spiritual realms (Sirius/LionsGate). Now is the time to remember all that we are; for setting crystal-clear intentions for the months to come; and for seeing in the now all that out hearts would have manifest.

Moon Full in Aquarius

Greeting Moon Full (exact @1937 PDT) in Aquarius

… illumination, expression, heart-full-ness … 

I had planned to take a break for a bit but recent shiftings called me to post this Moon Full. Truth is, there are many tales spinning and many ways to read, sift, cast, integrate, mediate and negotiate the tales alone and together. So which tales to tell and how? For this ‘drop in’ let’s keep it positively simple.

Yesterday we emerged from the primal Waters of Cancer Sun and entered into the bold, golden energy of firey Leo (Sun’s home sign so further empowered). It’s a time to celebrate vitality, courage, and joy (Sun & Mars in Leo & Merc soon). A time for increased confidence and creative self-expression. A time for self to be at center. A time to live from the heart and to appreciate the precious life gifts available to us each day. A time for comfort, ease and playfulness. A time to purr and a time to love large.

Today at this Moon-full (1st of 2 consecutive full Moons in Aqua) it’s also a time to celebrate the fullness of Light within, and the presence of wisdom in our lives (further empowered by Leo and by balance of elemental energies); a time to honour all that guides and grounds us. In Aquarius we will find ourselves drawn to the new and the unusual, and to anything we see that needs improvement. Thinking out of the box, we will be inspired by new ideas. Inquisitive, radical, and revolutionary, and with an emphasis on freedom, Aquarius seeks to shift consciousness, solve big-picture problems and move us into a new and better future. Together with Leo Sun, we are empowered to boldly claim and create the future we want to come into Being.

Change is in the Air. At the heart of this Moon is the knowing that we have turned another corner, the way is made clearer, and we are heading in new directions. We are on a healing journey (natural quality of Aqua), detoxing, releasing and transforming from what has been (Pluto); re-integrating and finding our medicines within (Chiron-R); and increasing our understanding of our individual and collective greater purpose, in body and in Spirit (Moon conj Chariklo, asteroid of Spirit Medicine). Aquarius themes will continue to support us in our journey (2 consec Aqua full Moons + Saturn in Aqua); Leo and Aquarius together help us to highlight, harmonize and integrate opposing/polarized forces (masc/fem, self/collective, personal/universal); and Moon will always alert us to tune to natural rhythms of cyclic change.

Time to immerse in the fullness of Moon’s bright Light and receive the strength, wisdom, and creativity pouring in. Time to honour and celebrate the gifts of the cycle, both given and received. Time to be illuminated and time to shine. And, soon, time to prepare for sacred pause (Day Out of Time Sunday), and to make way for more quiet time with you and you.

Moon Dark-New in Cancer

Welcome Moon Dark-New (exact @1816 PDT) in Cancer

… home-in. feel, flow, nourish, rebirth… 

As always, Moon Dark initiates a new cycle and offers us to the opportunity to start fresh with new perspective. It’s a time to end, close and release old tracks; and time to open to new ways of seeing and being (Moon dark+Moon-Uranus). A time for re-visioning, for setting new intentions, and for new adventures.

The start of this cycle with a new Moon in Cancer is particularly welcome after the challenging, rock and roll-er coastery turbulence of eclipse energies (recall last new Moon included a solar eclipse) and various other Earth-Sky alignments (Mars-Saturn-Uranus TSQ in particular). Yes, there’s still some residual effects (eg Uranus still at Apex of TSQ) but things are shifting, fading, resolving, easing. More and more as Moon’s light gains, energies soften, there’s greater clarity, and we feel stronger, more supported, and more confident (Moon/Sun & outer planets).

There’s magic in this Moon (Cancer is Moon’s ruler + boosts Cancer Sun season energy (along w/ Merc>Cancer Sunday) + influence of outer planets + cycle includes Mayan Day Out of Time). In Cancer we enter the realm of feeling and are welcomed into nourishing sanctuary. Cancer Moon calls us home, to the loving embrace of all we are, and into a deepening of Cancer’s wisdom-gifts of caring, nurture, comfort, compassion, empathy, self-trust and self-love. Sensitivity, creativity and potential for spiritual growth increases (Moon-Neptune). Things are falling into place and there’s a greater sense of unity and ‘rightness’ within (heightened by Moon conj Mars & Venus Monday & rare Mars-Venus conj Tues). It’s a time for transformative new beginnings.

In Cancer season and under this Cancer Moon, the focus is on radical, unwavering self-care, not just to survive but to thrive. Time to deeply feel at home within. Time to love ourselves as we are and, at the same time, take first steps to becoming more than we have been (following from eclipse call). Time to feel, laugh and play (further encouraged by Moon>Leo ‘morrow); and time to let the inner Waters flow. Time to find new ways to anchor all that delights, nourishes and nurtures us and all we love; and time to plant new seeds in that service.

Waning Moon Half-lit in Aries

Greeting Waning Moon Half-lit (exact @1411 PDT) in Aries

… reflection, purification, rejuvenation …

Waning Moon calls us to slow and move inward (supported by 4 planets Rx). It’s time to sort, follow-up, complete or put aside for now, the activities initiated this cycle As always, at Moon half-lit we are called to pause and (re)balance. Time to look into the dark and into the light. Time to reflect upon the learnings of this cycle and to release what no longer serves. Time to enter the feminine deepening and prepare for the new cycle to come.

Moon in Aries (Fire, masculine, action) brings movement, boldness and fearlessness. Sun in Cancer (Water, feminine, feeling) brings compassion, sensitivity and unconditional love. Working together in harmony they meld assertiveness and compassion; perseverance and sensitivity; bold action and tender nurturing; and they help us to create balance and an enduring peace. We are further supported by the relative balance of both masculine/feminine energies and astrological modalities (cardinal, mutable, fixed).

The call to balance, align and harmonize the energies and gifts of ‘opposing’ forces is more intense than usual (reinforced by the current Fire-Water, Sun/Moon, acting /feeling, masculine/feminine dynamics + Saturn-Uranus activated). First by the Sun/Moon, Cancer/Aries dynamics; and also by other alignments (Fixed T-Square Mars, Saturn, Uranus) that activate energies that we’ve been working with all year (Saturn-Uranus square).

Expect the unexpected (as usual it seems ;)). We may find levels of resistance are heightened– to change (Saturn), to the status quo (Uranus), and to anything that blocks our path (Mars). There may be some turbulence, some heating up, and some radical action. Frustration may rise; tempers could flare. Best to tune to the energy of the waning Moon time and let flow, let go. We may be well-advised to choose what not to do rather than attempt to push on through ;). Breathe. Pause. And feel deeply into the joy of Spirit in the present moment.

Now is the time to move more fully into the feminine deep. Time to be cleansed by the Waters (Cancer) and warmed by the Fire (Aries). Time to draw on Cancer Sun to feel into home within. Time to draw on Aries Moon to honour our inner Fire with deepening self-care. Time to rest, restore, and rejuvenate. Time to prepare for a new Lunar cycle and the emergence of a renewed sense of self.

Moon Full in Capricorn

Greeting Moon Full (exact @1140 PDT) in Capricorn

… head, heart and Spirit | reflect, celebrate, integrate …

The bright light of the Moon brings clarity and a call to reflect upon all that has occurred, been initiated, is underway and/or has completed this Moon. At the peak of a lunar cycle that began with a solar eclipse and had some challenging alignments, there is much to consider (esp re beliefs & paradigms: Jup-Rx).

While we pause at this point of culmination, energies have been/are shifting. Thoughts, ideas and communications are clearer and move more smoothly now (Merc stationed direct June22). Likely we will experience a renewed sense of faith, optimism, hope and confidence; and feel more inspired and enthusiastic (Moon-Jupiter sextile). Feminine energy is high (7/11 planets in fem signs); and there is a greater sense of flow (4 planets in Water; 3 in Air). And we have recently moved from the busy times of Gemini and entered a gentler, softer, more tender time (Sun in Cancer). Time to come home to self. And as Moon wanes, it’s time to slow and move inward (strong pull from Rx planets). Time to deepen self-love and self-care (Cancer Sun).

Moon in Capricorn provides us with solid ground and helps us to re-find our feet after the whirlwinds of eclipses, Gemini and whatever tensions may have arisen along the way (i.e., Saturn-Uranus exactitude). Strong and steady, Capricorn brings our focus to our senses; to practical matters, and to structures and boundaries that creatively and gracefully support our needs and desires (great for self-nurture as we enter the waning time). She calls us to root in our soul’s purpose. It’s a time to Earth our truth, our ideas, our ideals and our presence.

Cancer Sun and Capricorn Moon both seek to feel rooted, settled, and at home with ourselves. Cancer is concerned with feelings, emotional security and nurturing; Capricorn with facts, material security and responsibility. Together they call us to attend to both heart and mind; to both honour past treasures and embrace future possibilities; and to engage and balance our outer and inner worlds. It’s a time to lean into the strength of Seagoat, the protection of Crab, and the nurture of Earth and Sea.

Time to shelter in the heart, cleanse in the sea, and root in Earth. Time to shift with the sands and flow with the tides.
