Energy rises with the waxing Moon. Now half-lit we are called to pause and move ‘between’. Time to re-integrate, re-align and adjust balance. Time to review and clarify plans. Time to activate ideas and bring them into form.

And it’s a time to dance the challenge of opposites: dark/light (Moon half-lit); endings/beginnings (Pisces last sign of zodiac); dreams/reality, feeling/thinking (Pisces-Gemini); heart/ will (Venus-Mars SQ); old/new, slow/quick, restriction/freedom, stability/revolution, create/break, known/unknown, visible/invisible (Saturn/Aquarius-Uranus/Taurus. Yes, the times are in-tense. It is our ongoing challenge to strengthen our practices of grounding, calming, clearing, releasing. A time to be present, neutral and discerning; and, always, a time to attend to self-care.

Sun now in Pisces (as of yesterday) calls us to connect deeply with all that is; release illusions; and surrender to the flow. Pisces wants to be quiet; to Be rather than do; and to ponder, relax and drift. ‘Tis a season of moving inward. Gemini Moon, however, brings a restlessness; an intellectual curiosity about the world; and a desire and tendency to do more than one thing at a time. Though they represent a heart-mind struggle, both signs are adaptable, flexible and creative; and both seek to connect. Working together effectively they blend the detached world of mind, with feeling and spiritual calling. The combination of an intellectual, logical focus, with an emotional, intuitive grasp of the world, helps make our decisions much more solid.

It is time to go for what we want (Mars-Venus SQ) and work to bridge the divides between opposites (Saturn-Uranus). Time to delve into the Waters and let heart-made intentions take form. Time to breathe. Time to activate and time to rest. Time to search within, and time to engage with the world. Time to realign ourselves with Soul/Spirit; and to integrate and harmonize ourselves with all that is.

Moon Dark-New in Aquarius

Greeting Moon Dark-new (exact 210211 @1106 PST) in Aquarius

… strength, objectivity,visionary planning…

This powerful Moon of beginnings is heightened by the start of Lunar New Year (aka Chinese New Year ;)). Joining five other planets in Aquarius (+Pallas Athene), change and mental realms are activated; and new beginnings means new adventures. Time to clear the ways of anything that impedes our fully Being. Time to open to new possibilities and new ways of knowing. Time for visioning and setting intentions for the all that we wish to actualize.

With the abundance of Aquarius energy, we are called to bypass the usual and explore the unknown. It’s a time of truth, movement, reform, out-of-the-box thinking, new solutions, innovation, freedom, humanitarianism, connection to higher consciousness and awakening. Overall, it’s about shaking things up and breaking away from old constraints. It’s as if the skies are shouting for change, freedom and a new future now!

But hold up a minute. In the midst of change and transformation, there are challenges to address as we work through what is to be variously retained, renewed, adjusted, reformed, replaced, innovated, transformed or tossed away. Challenges that arise out of the tension between old-new, known-unknown, and different desires for control/freedom (Aqua/Taurus and Saturn-Uranus’s face-off effect throughout year). Further, as is often the case when there’s change, fear, confusion and doubt may rise (Merc-R is stirring things up) and things may move more slowly than we might like (Mars in Taurus). We are in the midst of the most intense period of the push-pull effect. Right choices may be elusive right now. We are called to review, rethink, plan and go slow.

And, yes, there’s lots dancing in the skies right now (e.g., Aquarius planets in quintuple & quadruple squares with Uranus & Mars) and all of it is fueled by Aquarian drives for freedom, liberation, cooperation, innovation, break-throughs and break frees. Yes, we can expect some ongoing rock and roll shake-ups; and would be well-advised to expect the unexpected. But Aquarius also connects us to ‘higher’ mind/Source, helping us to watch our thoughts, and to keep focus on the ideals we seek to bring into being. There’s also an inflow of energy that infuses us with love and caring (Venus w/ Merc & Mars effect); enhances creative gifts and loving communications (Merc con Venus); expands our sense of happiness, favouring anything having to do with abundance, beauty, pleasure and flow (Venus con Mars); and helps us to root in our hearts and open to wonderment, joy and awe (Venus-Jupiter).

It is time to feel into an infusion of optimism; to appreciate all the good things of Life; and to trust in the natural nurture that flows to us when we are open and at peace. Time to focus on our hopes, wishes, dreams and passions. Time to engage with our hearts, tune to Spirit/Source, and feel and feed our Soul beings. Time to use our intentions as a lightning rod to draw all that we dream and imagine into form.

Waning Moon Half-lit in Scorpio

Welcome Waning Moon Half-lit (exact 210204 @0937 PST) in Scorpio

… release, re-source, replenish, transform… 

At waning Moon half-lit, it’s time to pause, breathe deep and find balance. Time to review, sort, and wrap up. Time to clear the energy field and release, release, release. The pull to slow and move inward is strong (waning Moon, Scorpio, Merc-R). Time to enrich self-care, rest, re-source and prepare to enter the feminine deep.

In Scorpio there’s increased pressure to shed old skins. It’s time to peal away, break, shatter and release all that deters, limits, or confines our fully Being. We are called to go deep into the heart of the heart and the root of the root; and to seek the seeds of transformation. We are invited to scatter ourselves to the stars and prepare to sprout new wings.

Aquarius Sun (+4 other planets in Aqua) also urges us to transform. Aquarius brings increased intuition, a strong future focus, and the power of manifestation. Both cerebral Aquarius and deeply feeling Scorpio are strong, passionate and full of conviction (fixed signs). Both call us to sift, shift and purify our hearts and minds from unhelpful thoughts, beliefs, and patterns (w/ extra push from Merc-R); and to seek freedom and enlightened ways of Being. Together they help us to cleanse the past, transform our fears, and create a new and better future.

Yes, the work of letting go, changing, and transforming is challenging and often difficult. At this point, we’ve had a good deal of experience of the push-pull of the old-new battle ground; of emotional highs and lows; and of expecting the unexpected. Now, at this waning Moon it’s time to slow and let go.

It’s time to reach for the calm beneath the waves. Time to trust in the protections of our guardians whomever they be. Time to tune to beauty, Love and Light. Time to nourish ourselves and (especially now) time to rest, rest, rest. Time to wrap ourselves in a shimmering chrysalis. Time to feel into renewal, freedom and possibility. Time for seeds of transformation to form. Time to prepare to dream and new future into Being.

We have been journeying through intense times, dense with information, shifts, and change. The winds rise, shuffle things about, and push us in new directions (4 planets in Air, all in Aqua). Energy rises with the waxing Moon. Now half-lit, it’s time to pause, centre, and re-balance. Earthy energy offers deep grounding and stability (5 planets in Earth signs). An influx of Air invites us to take fresh breaths and prepare our wings (4 planets in Air signs). It’s time to tune to what we most value; and time to look ahead. Time to determine what we want to carry forward into the future; and to hone plans.

Taurus Moon brings strength, steadiness and solidity; reminds us of the importance of rest, stillness and nourishing self-care; and draws us into our senses and to simple pleasures. Sun now in Aquarius wants movement and change; to break free from the limits of conditioning; and for things to be new, uniquely different and innovative.
