Welcome the Cross Quarter! (exact Feb3 @1834)

 

amplify, embrace,nourish, re-energize

 

We have recently entered the new lunar year of the Yin Water Rabbit. Water Rabbit brings hope, peace and harmony; and carries the energy of creation, fertility and rebirth. Hir energy is soft and gentle. She encourages us to move from our hearts ; open to flow; and follow our intuition.

 

Like Rabbit, we may have quick bursts of leaping ahead, but the energetics of this year support gentleness and calm. It is a year to move easefully, and to make rest and relaxation a priority.

 

And here we are now at the Cross Quarter, the midpoint between Solstice and Equinox. It is a sacred point in the turning of the wheel.

 

Quarter days mark the change of season. Here in the north it is Imbolc (otherwise celebrated as Candlemas or Brigid’s Day). In the South it is Lugnasadh (Lammas). While these times are now have fixed calendar dates by tradition (Feb 1st/2nd), the actual cross-quarter this year is today (Feb 3 exact @1834 pst).

 

In the North seeds are beginning to stir as days of Light lengthen and the Earth warms. It is a time of renewal. A time to imagine what dreams may be made manifest this year (supported by Saturn now in Pisces).

 

In the South it is the time of first harvest; a time to gather the seeds of first crops; and a time to enjoy the first fruits and grains, and bake fresh bread.  It’s a time to enjoy the warmth and the Light.

 

Seeds are truly central to this time. Seeds that stir now will bring more seeds to fruition; seeds gathered will be planted to stir again. And so the Wheel turns. What seeds will you nourish? What do you wish to bring into the future? A time to ponder.

 

Wherever we are, and whatever our journeys may be, we are called to seek alignment with the natural rhythms of Earth and Cosmos. Time to tune to the Sacred. To Earth, Air, Fire,Water and Spirit; to their practical gifts and their abundant wisdom. To honour all that is offered, and to wonder at All that is hidden and revealed within.

 

May you be warmed by the Sun;

Feel your roots reach deep in Earth;

Be as light as a seed upon the Air; and

Flow with Earth and Cosmos

and all you Be.
